On stage Elia has appeared in Blithe Spirit (The Guthrie), Timon of Athens (Theatre for a New Audience and Shakespeare Theatre of DC), Top Girls (The Huntington), Between Riverside and Crazy (ACT Geary Theatre) and has also worked at The Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Humana Festival and many more.

Elia is currently on faculty at NYU Tisch where she teaches Advanced Scene Study at The Experimental Theatre Wing.

She has worked in public schools as a classroom teacher and Teaching Artist for nineteen years. She currently works at Lincoln Center, Manhattan Theatre Club and Brooklyn Academy of Music. She teaches writing, leadership, dramaturgy and performance, usually incorporating them all into each lesson.
